Domaine du Clos de Tart Mommessin Clos De Tart

Wine Information
Beautiful savoury notes with lovely bright red fruit too and spicy nuances, silky on the palate with a long spicy finish. Extremely elegant. 94/100 - 2018-2028 (Gerard Basset - Decanter - January 2015) Deep red-ruby. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, spices, stone and pepper. Lush and ripe but with excellent sappy energy to the flavors of dark berries, licorice, flowers and curry powder. Very dense and sweet for the year without being heavy or over the top. Most impressive today on the very long, vibrant finish, which features broad, fine-grained tannins and lovely rising perfume. The thicker 2012 may surpass this wine in the long run, but I have a weakness for Clos de Tart in cooler vintages. 93-95 - 2023-2038 (Vinous International Wine Cellar - Stephen Tanzer - Antonio Galloni - January 2015) This is Sylvain Pitiot's last vintage in charge at Clos de Tart but he has gone out on a high. I only tasted an approximation of the final blend - there are six "building blocks" - but it's a powerful, concentrated, comparatively late picked red, with quite a bit of oak, firmish tannins, dark fruits, some sap and sweetness and the concentration to age. 94 - 2020-30 (Tim Atkin - Burgundy 2013 Special Report - February 2015)
