Château Grande Cassagne Rouge

Château Grande Cassagne Rouge

Wine Information
Rich yet fresh, this blend of Grenache and Syrah is raspberry colored with aromas of ripe cherry, underbrush and minerals. Anticipate flavors of tangy cherry and blood orange notes, with hints of spice.

This red blend is a real crowd pleaser! It is a versatile wine that is enjoyable as a sipper in social situations to backyard cookouts, from hearty cheeses and cured meats to roasted meats and rustic country stews.

Grenache: Some consider Grenache to be as important a grape as the highly revered Cabernet Sauvignon. Estimates put worldwide planting of Grenache at more than 450,000 acres – with 250,000 of those acres in France! Characteristically, Grenache expresses red fruit flavors (raspberry and strawberry) with a subtle, white pepper spice note. Syrah: Again, France commands the lion’s share of Syrah on the planet, with nearly 170,000 acres planted among the world’s 450,000 acres. Virtually every wine producing region employs Syrah to some degree due to its brisk acidity and firm tannins. Terroir and winemaking styles develop a variety of aspects from its complex flavors that range from smoke, bacon, herbs, red and black fruits, white and black pepper, to floral violet.

Terroir: Clay and limestone

Winemaking: The Syrah has 6-8 hours of skin contact, and the Grenache has 12-16 hours. Night harvesting is done to preserve freshness. Vines are 40-60 years old. Sustainably farmed.
