Domaine Sérafin Père et Fils Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Wine Information
The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is from two parcels, one in Charmes and one in Mazoyeres. Average age of the two parcels, both similar dates of planting is 75 years. 100% new oak elevage.
The Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, from vines just under 80 years old, has an intense bouquet: macerated black cherries, boysenberry and bilberry fruit underneath a carapace of new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rigid tannins for a Charmes-Chambertin. It feels long in the mouth, quite assertive and determined to make an impressive. Fortunately it pulls back toward the finish so that it is not overpowering. The Wine Advocate, issue #216 90-92 points.
