Domaine Sylvain Langoureau

This husband and wife team is located in the hamlet of Gamay nestled between Puligny Montrachet and St. Aubin. The Domaine is made up of numerous small parcels totaling 8.5 hectares. Sylvain and Nathalie are owners in St. Aubin, Meursault, Puligny and Chassagne. Their vines are planted to 75% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir and 10% Aligote. Everything here is done by hand and with great care. Vines are pruned to a maximum of five shoots for naturally low yields. No treatments are performed in the vineyard past mid-July and the Langoureaus are experimenting with cover grass in certain parcels to promote root competition and minimize erosion. The winery is essentially a garage and a cellar. Sylvain vinifies his reds in the stainless steel tanks in the garage and ages them in the cellar that is packed with barrels of fermenting and ageing white wines. These wines are elegant gems and very limited.
