Domaine Glantenay Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens

Domaine Glantenay Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens

Wine Information
Located next to Volnay, the terroir of Rugiens is one of most famous of Pommard with its name derived from the word "rougion" - the red of the earth. With sunny southeast exposure, this site is well protected from wind which provides the power and complexities of a well matured wine. On a surface area of just .2ha, the vines are very old, planted in 1935. Hand-harvested into small crates, yields are around 25 hL/ha. Fermentation takes place naturally in gravity fed vats with indigenous yeasts and about a 15 day maceration time. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, maximum 30% new, for to 14-18 months depending on the vintage. After one racking without pump, bottling is done without fining or filtration.
