From a little-seen but first-class vineyard next to La Romanée, Chassagne-Montrachet, Tête du Clos 1er Cru is brilliant, full, rich, ripe, yet perfectly balanced. It is a stunning wine which hits all the high notes.

Variety: Chardonnay
Vine Age: Planted in 1955
Terroir: Mid-slope with poor, shallow soil
Viticulture: Lutte raisonnée
Vinification: Whole-cluster pressing, light settling, transfer to barrel (20-25% new oak), indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 18 months, fined and/or filtered only if necessary.

Located just under La Romanée, this parcel often produces smaller clusters than its neighbors.
